Citifleur Series
This series was inspired by a walk in the borough of Brooklyn. In pocket gardens and a few yards there were green plants, but the only colored flowers were those poking up through cracks in cement. My very large flowers have impossible spiral or curved steel stems to emphasize the difficulties those little buds faced in order to appear in the sidewalks. The blooms are formed from cement or ceramic, and can surely stand up to scorching sun or winter snow. I continued to construct them during the Covid 19 lockdown; Mother Nature provided a spectacular season of colors while people remained indoors. What a surprise to see flowers and green as we emerged for quick walks or errands!
